A Vinifactor wine event is more than just a tasting.During a two hour event delegates will work together, in teams, to identify key characteristics of a range of wines, building their knowledge to the point where, at the end of the session, they will have the opportunity to put their new skills to the test to identify a mystery wine in a blind tasting. Solving a series of cryptic clues, collecting points for these clues and for identifying wine characteristics, gambling these points on their decisions, paying to go balloon "grape picking", deciding whether, and when, to invest points in a "grape picking machine", trading information with other teams, and deciding upon individual roles within the team, are a selection of the tasks that may be required during a Vinifactor wine event. The events are designed to be flexible, to allow the inclusion of learning themes that reflect the content of a training course, or can be left as a purely social activity. A range of learning "metaphors" can be used to reinforce key learning points from your course, and cryptic clues can refer to the wines, the content of your course, or both. Whatever the purpose of your course, these events will be tailored specifically to reflect your agenda. Previous themes have included, amongst others; * the importance of using a common, attribute based language for staff assessments; * the concept of working in co-operation with other teams to achieve common goals; * practical examples of coaching models; * the importance of benchmarking performance against one's competitors.
